well i knew it was coming, and today was the day.
a few YEARS ago, allergan announced that b/c the glaucoma drug class called "prostaglandin analogs" has a side effect of longer, thicker & darker eyelashes, that they were going to market their prostaglandin analog (bimatoprost) as an eyelid application specifically for growing longer, thicker & darker lashes. its called "Latisse".
apparently last night on the Oscars there was some mention of this drug and its effects, and today a patient who has has a long battle with chronic eyelash loss ("madarosis") and the inability to grow many lashes ("hypotrachosis") asked me if she could have a prescription for it.
so i just wrote my 1st Rx for Latisse. very interesting!
