Acuvue Oasys 1-Day

I now feel like I have fit enough of these to make a somewhat educated statement on the quality of this relatively new product. And I give it an A+, two thumbs way up, probably just unseated Alcon's Dailies Total One IMO for best product on the market. I've tried it and loved it, and my wife and 11 year old daughter, both formerly staunch DT1 wearers, have both switched. Every patient we have tried it on to date has raved about the comfort and vision. It's the best product on the market right now IMO with DT1 now a close second. Alcon kind of "changed the game" with the release of DT1, but to Johnson&Johnson's credit, they followed suit and arguably even outperformed Alcon. Here's the product information from the Acuvue website: http://www.acuvueprofessional.com/product/oasys-contact-lenses-with-hydraluxe 8.5 mm base curve/14.3 mm diameter 9.0 mm base curve/14.3 mm diameter Power ranges (both base curves) -0.50D to -6.00D (0.25D steps) -6.50D to -12.00D (0.50D steps) +0.5D to +6.00D (0.25D steps) +6.50 D to +8.00D (0.50D steps) Material: senofilcon A Wetting agent: PVP Dk/t 121 38% water Class 1 UV blocking

  1. Hi! I have dry eyes and I use DT1. Are these new Oasys much better or just slightly? I live in Europe and they are not available but I would really like to try them!

    1. they are very, very similar. maybe *slightly* better. I would not use the words "much better". DT1 was the absolute best lens on the market IMO for something like 3 years. it's going to be difficult for anyone to come up with a lens that is "MUCH better".

    2. Ok! And what is your opinion of Coopervision Myday compared to the other two? Thanks!

    3. it's a little embarassing to admit but I have literally zero experience with MyDay.

  2. Hey doc! Quick question for you. I have pretty bad GPC. Currently am in MyDays. Been wearing them for about a 18 months and GPC was slightly easier to control than with Acuvue Moist (what I used before that) up until a couple weeks ago. Lately, no matter what I do, the redness manages to return. It has not been this annoying and prevalent in a while. I am Lotemaxing, hopefully that will calm it down, but I was wondering if replacing the Mydays with these would do anything. Have you fitted any people that have GPC with these? Have they said anything about comfort and all day wear? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

    1. I don't have much experience with them. To be honest, we're not a big Coopervision practice. They don't have any product that I just love (none that I hate, either), and I don't like their "private labeling" practices. AFAIK MyDay are not "water gradient" lenses like DT1 and AVO-1-Day are. Probably not a bad product but not one that stands out in my mind. If you remember AV 1-day Moist as being better, it's not a terrible idea to try those again
