Acuvue Oasys with Transistions
Yes you read correctly: contact lenses that change colors when exposed to sunlight. "Sunglasses" in contact lens form. They're coming soon. We'll have them - we're a big Acuvue practice. An interesting development, for sure! As for how dark they get and how well they work...we'll see!

Color me skeptical. I think it's great that they are trying to innovate in this space, but this is going to look like a Halloween contact lens, no? I've been wearing contacts for 20 years and I can't say that I ever wished that my lenses would automatically tint.
ReplyDeleteEven putting appearance aside, transitions lenses always have an annoying delay when you come back inside or first go outside. I have to imagine that these contacts will behave similarly, except you can't take them off or allow light to come in from around the lens. What happens when you are driving in sunlight and suddenly enter a tunnel?
If they simply licenced what (IBN) Singapore was working on then the amount of time it takes wont be long
DeleteWonder how long till they go astigmatism
