I have red veins coming out and my eye burn- sometimes. In addition, I was up in the morning and my eye is red- like a popped blood vessel. Do I have to live with symptoms like burning, and red eye forever or will it eventually settle??? I threw a reaction- swelling and he took me off. Now, a month later, my eye looks blood shot in the morning and when it is tired and the Pinguecula has more veins in it.
1. Did I do more damage with the Alrex or did the Alrex just slow the process.
2. Is this sensitivity- redness normal?? Please help I am very concerned. Thank you. Im not bothered about the cosmetic appearance of the pings themselves but the red veins are unsightly and really effect my confidence.

Ive bren wearing Total Dailies 1 contacts for many years but now they make the red veins surrounding the pings really inflamed so Ive had to stop wearing altogether.

Im currently booked in for Lasik Relax surgery in 6 weeks time but I can cancel (would lose my deposit).

Is Lasik Relax bad idea? Would I be better having pings removed and then wearing a combination of glasses and contacts? I dont mind wearing glasses occasiomally but my worsening red veins around the pings means I have to wear them all the time now.

Many thanks
Kirsty Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3226656428350321701.post-41001281661527181842017-12-13T22:35:25.567-06:002017-12-13T22:35:25.567-06:00I'm so glad I came across this blog. I have had pinguecula for about 4/5 years (I am 29 y/o), but it has never really bothered me. Last December I got a pretty bad viral eye infection. I was placed on steroid drops two separate time (1 month each time, lowering the dose each week). I no longer have the infection, but I feel as though the infection has caused pingueculitis and I believe I still have it. I have some red veins that lead to the yellow spots (left eye at my 9 o'clock and right eye 9 o'clock) and dry eyes. I've been doing warm compresses twice a day for my dry eyes and non-preservative drops as needed. I only wear contacts on weekend.

Do you have any further suggestions? I noticed you mention cold compresses and cold drops? Also, why is my pingueculitis taking such a long time to heal? My ophthalmologist relayed that it usually takes a really long time for the eyes to recover from a viral eye infection and I'm wondering if that can be attributing to my long recovery from pingueculitis. They have progressed to raised yellow bumbs, and the outer edges of my eyes have now developed the small yellow spots- which I assume will lead to full on pingueculae covering the whites of my eyes. oh joy.

I come from a family of optometrists, but I spent my entire childhood outdoors, at the pool, lake, etc. on a farm unprotected. I also have green eyes which I believe are more susceptible.

The saddest part of this condition is the depression that commonly goes hand in hand. I feel nervous all of the time that people notice and that this condition is only getting worse. Not to mention it hurts almost everyday, and always feels like something is in my eyes.

I have used several different steroids, Pred Forte works the best, temporarily, and now I am using a very expensive topical steroid drop, that doesn't seem to work as well.

I have never found an eye drop that works well for lubrication. I drink TONS of water, as I heard that helps, and I have resorted to vampire life, unless I am very protected with sunglasses and a hat.

I want to pursue surgery but have only found one Doc that looks good in Florida, Gulani Vision Institute, I think it is very expensive, but his surgery "Here today, gone tomorrow" uses a Sutureless Amniotic method. Do you know anything about this surgery? There is also research being done currently on "Dipyridamole is a cardiovascular drug, used for the past 55 years for treating angina and preventing stroke. It also has wide applicability for eye disorders, having been researched for various eye ailments over the past four decades, including diabetic retinopathy, ocular hypertension and retinal hemorrhage. I have had a pinguecula in each of the inner corners of mg eyes for about a year. Along with them I constantly have redness and seemingly irritated blood vessels near them.

I've been using Systane ultra drops for a few months and have since added Systane gel during nighttime and now in the am I use OasisTears Plus. I've also included the additon of fish oil pills.

I feel like I'm at a loss. Nothing I've done is seeming to help with the redness, and I constantly feel like my eyes are very dry and just hurt. I, of course try fo be better about glasses and abstaining from windy or dusty conditions.

Would you think an option to ask my eye dr about is the use of the Lotemax steroid drops I've read in many of the prior posts/responses? Any idea why he would not have mentioned it as an option to me already?

I've looked up possible drs who perform pinguecula removal and came across Dr Baxter in southern ca. Any experience with this dr or the procedure he offers? It is not only a physical concern to me due to how uncomfortable it is, I just can't stop thinking how it looks just not healthy to me. I know I will end up seeking the surgical option out as I just don't feel comfortable currently.

Thanks much for your time and expertise.
